Football Tips: Top boy Tavernier to keep rolling in Wednesday’s 9/1 Carabao Cup Acca

The best Marcus since Aurelius is targeting a fourth straight goalscoring match!

The first door to Europe will still be ajar for 14 teams after Tuesday’s action, which no doubt saw a few Arsenal fans at Fleetwood’s Highbury joking about how much the ‘Clock End’ has changed (chortle, chortle!).

Wednesday sees three all-Premier League ties in the 7.45 Carabao Cup slot, and PP footy tipster Tamhas Woods has a player pick from each of them. Let’s go!

WHERE: Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
TV: Sky Sports

Marcus Tavernier to Score or Assist

Arguably rivalled only by Brazilian duo Rayan and Evanilson, Marcus Tavernier has rightly received plenty of plaudits for his consistency this season. As numerous sides have so unwisely done before, Villa will underestimate Tavernier at their peril, with the winger netting in each of his last three games.

He only got 12 minutes against Exeter City in the previous round, but with Aston Villa representing a big step up in opposition quality from the Grecians, he should get his fair share of playing time on Wednesday evening.

Fulham v Crystal Palace

WHEN: Wednesday, 28th October, 7.45pm
WHERE: Craven Cottage, London
TV: Sky Sports

Yeremy Pino to Score or be Booked

OK, this isn’t a Premier League game, but with PL opposition on the horizon, we’d say there’s something to bring to the table…

If you looked up ‘unlucky’ in the dictionary, you might see a big picture of Yeremy Pino somewhere in the vicinity. Despite his average of 0.8 fouls per Premier League game being nowhere near the top of Palace’s list of sinners, his tally of three yellow cards is a team high.

His tendency to irk the referee has certainly ramped up in recent weeks, with the Spaniard receiving a booking in four of his last five appearances. However, he’s also proven to be a bit of a threat from midfield lately, with a goal on three of his previous five outings.

Sunderland v Brentford

WHEN: Wednesday, 28th October, 7.45pm
WHERE: Stadium of Light, Sunderland
TV: Sky Sports

Vitaly Janelt to Commit 2+ Fouls

The German midfielder is always up there in the long list when it comes to fouls, and he should be a fresh-legged starter, after a double yellow card against Liverpool saw him suspended for the draw at Hull.

His misdemeanours against the Reds boosted his average of fouls per league match to 1.7, while that combative afternoon saw him join teammate Mamaou Sangare as one of just six PL players to have averaged 3+ tackles per game.

Also, of the seven matches (across all competitions) to see Janelt play 70+ minutes so far this term, he has hit the 2+ fouls mark on four occasions.
