Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has been shortlisted for the 2026 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award following an impressive season for club and country.
The 26-year-old is among 10 nominees for the prestigious continental accolade, which recognises the outstanding male footballer in Africa.
Semenyo earned his place on the shortlist after an impressive 2025/2026 campaign, during which he featured for AFC Bournemouth before completing a move to Manchester City in January 2026.
He faces competition from several high-profile African stars, including Ivorian Amad Diallo and Moroccan trio Achraf Hakimi, Ismael Saibari and Brahim Diaz.
DR Congo forward Yoane Wissa, South African midfielder Teboho Mokoena and Senegalese trio Ismaila Sarr, Pape Gueye and Sadio Mane complete the list of nominees.
Semenyo enjoyed a productive spell at Bournemouth in the first half of the campaign before making the switch to Manchester City. He finished the season with 13 goals in 35 appearances, including the decisive strike in the FA Cup final.
The Ghanaian also made history by becoming the first player from the country to be named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year.
At international level, Semenyo played an important role in Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, helping the Black Stars reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
His contributions at both club and international level have now earned him recognition among Africa’s leading footballers, with the forward hoping to cap the year by claiming the individual award.
The 2026 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 7, with outstanding performers across African football set to be honoured.
Semenyo, who is currently sidelined with an injury, has started the 2026/2027 season with two goals and three assists in eight appearances across all competitions for Manchester City.
