Tottenham Hotspur forward Mathys Tel has described the team’s 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as a special moment the players “need to enjoy”.
Speaking to Sky Sports after scoring in the London derby, Tel reflected on the victory, which extended Spurs’ winning run to two matches after they went winless in their first six games of the season.
Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders put through his own net to give Tottenham the lead before Tel doubled the advantage, finishing a solo run with a shot into the bottom-right corner.
“It’s a very special [moment] because we have come to Chelsea so many times and not got a win. We showed great mentality today and we need to enjoy this win.”
“We created a lot of chances today, we walk out together, the goal is something special for me, I’m happy about it and lets keep pushing now” Tel said.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was dismissed from the game in the 80th minute after receiving a second yellow card.
