Black Maidens coach Joe Nana Adarkwah loses voice celebrating Argentina victory

Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwah lost his voice on Wednesday after wild celebrations with his team following their victory over Argentina at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

On the matchday, the Ghana U17 team held their Round of 16 opponent to a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes despite ending the contest with 10 players.

The Black Maidens then held their nerves to secure a 5-4 triumph over the Argentines and advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Joe Nana Adarkwah expressed his delight and applauded his players for getting the job done.

"Matches like this, it's not easy. So, after winning it, you have to celebrate. You can see that I've lost my voice because of the celebration. So, I'm very happy, and I'm proud of the girls. We have done well,” the Black Maidens coach said.

After advancing from the Round of 16, the Black Maidens of Ghana will now face the winner of the match between Japan and Kenya in the quarter-finals.
