Spanish club Tenerife have confirmed the tragic death of striker Jesus de Miguel at the age of 30 following a serious on-field collision during Monday’s second-division fixture against Andorra.
The forward was rushed to hospital after colliding with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono, who was sent off following the incident.
Reports in Spain claimed De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest before being resuscitated, according to Express.
However, his neurological condition reportedly worsened while receiving treatment in intensive care, with Tenerife confirming his death on Tuesday morning.
The club announced the heartbreaking news in an emotional statement, expressing its devastation over losing the striker.
“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.
“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness.”
Andorra also paid tribute, expressing condolences to his family, teammates, friends and Tenerife.
“With broken hearts and devastated, we want to send our most sincere condolences to the family of Jesús de Miguel, to all his teammates, friends, and to CD Tenerife. Rest in peace.”
Real Madrid and former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea also joined the football community in mourning.
De Miguel joined Tenerife in 2025 and scored 11 goals in 29 appearances, helping the club secure promotion back to Spain’s second division.
