What Is There Again to Be Done?” – Atta Poku Questions Okraku’s Third-Term Bid

Aduana FC Chief Executive Officer Collins Atta Poku has questioned the justification for Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku seeking a third term in office, insisting that the priority should be addressing the numerous challenges confronting Ghana football.

Okraku is reportedly considering another four-year mandate following constitutional amendments approved at the GFA Congress in 2025, which increased the presidential term limit from two to three terms.

The amendments were passed at the association’s Congress held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

However, Atta Poku believes the conversation surrounding Okraku’s potential third-term ambition is unnecessary, arguing that the focus should instead be on finding lasting solutions to the problems affecting the development of football in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Ahenfie FM, the Aduana FC chief executive openly questioned what more the incumbent GFA president could achieve if given another four years at the helm.

“I don’t want to hear the (Kurt Okraku for GFA president) third-term conversation. What is there again to be done?” he said.

Atta Poku also raised concerns about the GFA’s capacity to spearhead the reforms needed to restore Ghana football, calling for a more community-driven approach to the administration and development of the game.

According to him, rebuilding Ghana football requires greater involvement from local communities, with supporters and stakeholders having a stronger sense of ownership in the game.

“The GFA lacks the capacity to lead the reforms Ghana football needs. To get the game back on its feet, we must give communities a genuine sense of ownership and belonging,” he added.

Meanwhile, the race for the GFA presidency is expected to intensify ahead of the next elections, scheduled for October 2027.

Several personalities have already been linked with a possible challenge for the position, including former GFA Executive Council member Samuel Annim Addo, former Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association chairman Ralph Gyambrah, Karela United chief executive Elloeny Amande, former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew and former GFA vice-president George Afriyie.

Okraku, who was first elected GFA president in October 2019, has yet to officially announce whether he intends to contest for another term.

His possible third-term ambition, however, is already generating conversations within Ghana’s football fraternity as stakeholders continue to debate the direction and future of the domestic game.
