Malawi FA charges Silver Strikers Ladies misconduct after their NBM Women’s Premiership contest

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM), through its Competitions Committee, has charged Silver Strikers Ladies Football Club with two counts of misconduct following an incident involving match officials after their NBM Women’s Premiership encounter against Civil Service Women at Silver Stadium on Saturday, 17 October 2026.

The charges follow allegations that a supporter wearing Silver Strikers team colours threw a bottle of water at match officials as they entered the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms after the match.

According to a charge sheet dated 21 October 2026, the club faces charges of responsibility for supporter misconduct and failure to ensure order and security at the match venue. The first count relates to the alleged throwing of an object at match officials, contrary to Article 29.1, read together with Articles 29.1.1 and 29.9.1 of the NBM Women’s Premiership Rules and Regulations.

The second count concerns the club’s alleged failure to ensure order and security following the match, contrary to Article 29.6 of the competition’s Rules and Regulations. FAM alleges that the incident exposed match officials to a risk of physical harm as they proceeded to the dressing rooms.

Silver Strikers Ladies have been given 48 hours from receipt of the notification to submit a written response to the charges, including any supporting evidence and mitigating circumstances.
