Bibiani Gold Stars coach Petros Koukouras has praised his team’s response after conceding an equaliser in their 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions in matchweek eight of the Ghana Premier League.
The Miners secured all three points through goals from Kwame Poku and Abdul Jalilu, with Jalilu scoring the decisive goal in the dying minutes after Heart of Lions had fought back.
Koukouras admitted his team lost control after taking the lead but was pleased with their reaction following the equaliser.
"We start the game very well, then after the goal we scored, we gave Heart of Lions more space on the field. And they really tried to push us but I don't think they created any chances to score goals. In the second half we changed our formation unfortunately we didn't take a lot of things from some of our substitutions that led us to concede the goal from the opponent," he told Gold Stars TV.
"I think it was also a wake call from us because after the goal was conceded and 1-1 we totally dominated the game we scored one goal that was canceled for offside. We missed a lot of chances, and then finally in the dying minutes of the game we managed to score one goal to win the game,"
The victory leaves Gold Stars 12th with 10 points from eight matches. They face Samartex on November 1 at 3:00 pm.
