Egyptian international Mohamed Salah maintained his fine form for Trabzonspor, converting a penalty against Scottish side Hearts in the UEFA Conference League.

The goal marked his 10th in all competitions for the Turkish club and snapped a 13-year drought for Trabzonspor in European play.

According to Turkish news outlet Haberler, Salah’s strike was the club’s first successfully converted penalty in a European fixture since August 2013, when Polish midfielder Adrian Mierzejewski scored from the spot against Albania’s FK Kukësi.

Summer move to Trabzonspor

Following a high-profile departure from Liverpool in mid-2026, Mohamed Salah completed a headline transfer to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, quickly becoming the cornerstone of their domestic and European campaigns.

Rapid impact

Upon his arrival in Trabzon, Salah established himself as the team’s primary attacker and designated spot-kick taker, hitting double digits in all competitions within his first few months at the club.

European context

Trabzonspor qualified for the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League group phase, making Salah’s clinical penalty against Hearts a key moment in restoring the club’s offensive reliability on the continental stage.
