‘If you need anything, please ask’ – French Ambassador throws support behind Black Challenge ahead of World Cup

French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dimé-Labille, has pledged her support to Ghana's amputee national team, the Black Challenge, ahead of their campaign at the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The Ambassador met the team at the Mendiata Hotel in Accra, where she praised their hard work and achievements while reaffirming France's commitment to inclusion and the welfare of persons with disabilities.

Addressing the players, Diarra Dimé-Labille encouraged them to focus on bringing the World Cup trophy home and assured them that the French Embassy was ready to offer support where needed.

"We are committed to inclusion. We support anything that makes people with disabilities feel part of society. It is important that any problems you are facing ahead of your trip to Mexico are resolved.

"The only thing you have to think about is how we are going to win this cup. I want to congratulate you all for what you do every day. I am very humbled by your work, and I think Ghana can be very proud of your efforts," she said.

She also urged National Paralympic Committee of Ghana president Samson Deen to reach out to the French Embassy whenever the team needed assistance.

"If you need anything, please ask," she added.

The Black Challenge have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq for the tournament, which runs from November 13 to 22 in Mexico.

Ghana will be hoping to turn their continental success into a historic World Cup triumph by winning their first Amputee Football World Cup title.
