Brian Fariñas: 'Every boy dreams of this'
Brian Fariñas: 'Every boy dreams of this'

Another La Masia player makes his debut. On 31 October, Brian Fariñas played for FC Barcelona for the first time in a competitive match. It came in LaLiga when the blaugranes took on Alavés at the Spotify Camp Nou. The player from the Valencian Community started the match in an unfamiliar position at right back, but he put in a great performance in his first appearance for the blaugrana first team.

"This is my club"

As is tradition at Barça, Brian Fariñas had a photograph taken in front of the La Masia sign and shared his thoughts after making his debut for the team where he has developed. "I am very happy, very proud after all these years of work. Every boy dreams of this. In the Primera División, with FC Barcelona, my club... I'm very happy", he expressed.

Regarding playing at right back, he said that Hansi Flick asked him if he could play there. "I play where he [Flick] puts me. I was a bit nervous at first, but then you get into the game and I think I have quite a lot of character as a player. I felt comfortable to be honest", stated the blaugrana number four.

Support from his teammates

Lastly, he found his teammates played an important role, as he went on to say that "They helped me a lot. Whether it was Cubarsí, Rodri, Fermín and Lamine, they were all there on my flank. They gave me confidence". And he concluded by stating his desire to play "more minutes", gain "experience" and for the team to "move onwards and upwards".
