Ghanaian midfielder Prince Ampem delivered an outstanding performance, scoring and providing an assist as Shanghai Port secured a 4-2 victory over Newcastle Jets in the AFC Champions League Elite on Tuesday.
Ampem played a decisive role in the Chinese side's impressive away victory at McDonald Jones Stadium, contributing directly to two goals.
The 28-year-old set up Leonardo for the opening goal in the 23rd minute, delivering an assist that allowed the Brazilian forward to head home from close range.
Shanghai Port doubled their advantage three minutes later when Newcastle defender Thomas Aquilina inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Ampem then got on the scoresheet himself in the 51st minute, finding the bottom corner to extend the visitors' lead to 3-0.
Newcastle attempted a comeback through Patrick Wood and Xavier Bertoncello, who scored in the 58th and 80th minutes respectively.
However, Li Xinxiang sealed the victory for Shanghai Port in the 86th minute, converting Yang Xi's assist to make it 4-2.
Ampem was substituted in the 76th minute after another influential display.
The Ghanaian has now scored six goals and provided one assist in four AFC Champions League Elite appearances this season, finding the net in every match and leading the competition's scoring charts.
