Harry Kane missed out on the chance to score his first goal since winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year Award as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga’s biggest derby, Der Klassiker.
Kane who scored an outstanding 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern in the 2025-2026 season, missed his penalty kick attempt with the ball crashing off the crossbar in the 56th minute. (Scroll down to watch video)
Had he scored his penalty attempt, Bayern would have improved their lead to 2-0 after Konrad Laimer put them ahead in the 38th minute.
However, Kane’s missed penalty spurred Dortmund who went on to equalize just four minutes after the English striker’s squandered opportunity.
Speaking to the club’s media after the draw, Bayern Munich vice-captain Joshua Kimmich believed that the result was an injustice considering his team’s performance.
“Today’s didn’t need to end like that. Especially when you see the game in the second half, I don’t think a draw is justified but that’s sometimes the case in football.”
“Dortmund didn’t give up and were in it till the end. At the end of the day, we need to take the point, even though we obviously should’ve won” he said.
Both teams are tied on 18 points with Bayern leading the league standings thanks to a superior goal difference.
