English-born Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has been shortlisted for the 2026 CAF African Player of the Year award following an impressive campaign at club level.
The 26-year-old is among 10 players nominated for the prestigious individual honour after enjoying a productive season that began at Bournemouth before he completed a move to Manchester City.
Semenyo made 41 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists to underline his influence in front of goal.
His performances for Bournemouth attracted attention before his subsequent switch to City, marking another major step in his career in English football.
The versatile attacker starred for the Black Stars as well in the year under review having put up a man of the match display against Panama in the opening game at the 2026 World Cup.
He will face competition from Côte d’Ivoire’s Amad Diallo, DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa, Morocco’s Ismaël Saibari, Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Díaz, as well as Senegal’s Ismaïla Sarr, Pape Gueye and Sadio Mané.
South Africa’s Teboho Mokoena completes the shortlist, with Antoine Semenyo hoping to become the latest Ghanaian to claim the continent’s top individual football award.
