The National U-15 Boys team made a flying start to the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan in their opening Group W match on Saturday.

Abdul Aziz Issah and Jerry Owusu were the heroes for Ghana, scoring a brace each to secure all three points in Azerbaijan.

Ghana dominated proceedings from the blast of the whistle, showing flair, composure and attacking intent against their Asian opponents.

Aziz Issah opened the scoring before doubling Ghana’s advantage, while Jerry Owusu added two more goals to put the game beyond the reach of Uzbekistan, who managed a consolation strike late in the game.

The win gives Ghana a strong start in Group W, which also includes Myanmar, Guam, Bahamas and Kazakhstan.

Ghana will next face Myanmar and Guam on Sunday, before wrapping up the group phase against Bahamas and Kazakhstan on Monday.

The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, part of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, is aimed at giving every talent a chance to showcase their skills on the world stage.
