DEFENDING Subrails Marama Championship champions Namosi produced a remarkable second-half comeback to beat Nadi 41-39 in the Subrails Marama Championship semi-final at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Namosi will meet Suva in next week’s final after overturning a commanding 25-point deficit to keep their title defence alive.
Nadi dominated the first half with strong attacking play and ruthless finishing to take a 32-7 lead at half-time.
Ruci Nabulagi scored two tries, while Losana Kuruibua, Adi Raba Taraivini, Adikeri Lawavou and Anabelle Satala also crossed the tryline.
Alena Vualiku added a conversion as Nadi looked firmly in control of the contest.
Namosi managed only one try in the opening half, with Litia Kereburogo unable to convert.
However, the defending champions returned from the break with renewed determination, lifting their intensity in both attack and defence to turn the match around.
Namosi scored five tries in the second half through Ilisapeci Delaiwau, who crossed twice, Roela Koroimarama, Mariana Taletoka and Asena Koroimarama.
Kereburogo added two conversions as Namosi mounted their comeback to edge Nadi by two points in a thrilling finish.
Namosi head coach Kasanita Maraia thanked God and her players for their effort in securing the victory.
“Thank God and thank the girls for the win, it was a great effort from the girls,” Maraia said.
She said the team would prepare well for the final against Suva, a familiar opponent in the championship decider.
“This is probably 8th time meeting Suva in the final and we will prepare well for it,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nasinu won 39-28 over Suva in the second semi-final.
