Guinean starlet Ibrahima Chérif Fofana joins AIK Stockholm

The sensation starlet has joined the Gnaget on a long-term contract, with his deal set to take him through to 2030 at the Nationalarenan

Fotbollsallsvenskan club AIK Stockholm have announced the signing of Guinean starlet Ibrahima Chérif Fofana from Ettan Fotboll side AFC Eskilstuna on a three-year contract ahead of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old midfield enforcer caught the eyes of the scouting department of the Stockholm-based club with his dazzling talent and have now moved to secure his signature beyond the 2026-27 football season.

A statement confirming the capture of the Guinea-prospect enforcer read: ''AIK Fotboll has agreed with AFC Eskilstuna on a transfer of 20-year-old midfielder Ibrahima Chérif Fofana. Ibrahima made the move from his home country, Guinea, to Sweden ahead of the 2025 season and has since been a key player in AFC's offensive. He has played 29 games in Ettan Norra so far during the 2026 season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists. The agreement is valid from 1 January 2027 and runs until 31 December 2030.''

The promising budding star has told his club's official website: ''I am very happy and proud to join AIK. This is an important step in my career, I am ready to work hard and give my very best for the club and the supporters. I am really looking forward to getting started and helping the team achieve great success.''

AIK Football's head of recruitment, Miika Takkula added: ''Ibrahima is an attacking midfielder/winger with a very good understanding of the game. Based on both data analysis and live scouting reports, he is undoubtedly one of the most interesting players in Ettan, with great development potential. His ability to choose the right moment to make a pass or challenge and get past an opponent with his dribbling is exceptional. I am really looking forward to him joining us for next season, says AIK Football's head of recruitment.''

Given his magnificent potential, the Academia Atouga product could soon become a future cornerstone in the middle of the park for the Guinea national football team at the international level.
