An amputee football match descended into a shocking brawl as players 'swung their crutches like swords'. The violent confrontation erupted following a heated penalty shootout when tensions finally boiled over and chaos engulfed the pitch. Following a missed crucial spot-kick, opposition players immediately charged into the penalty area to celebrate and taunt their crestfallen rival. The scene transformed into mayhem as punches, kicks and swinging crutches were exchanged in an escalating fracas.

The fixture took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the home side, Los Teros de Cordoba, facing Uruguay's Rampla Juniors in an intensely competitive amateur encounter between the South American opponents.

Earlier during the match, a sliding challenge on a player already on the ground had sparked verbal abuse and furious reactions. That incident resulted in both skippers receiving their marching orders as the game proceeded amid mounting hostility.

During the contest, one team endured repeated provocations and challenges to fight from their rivals.

Rampla Juniors officials subsequently denounced the violence in a forthright statement posted on social media. "We want to make something very clear: we didn't travel to Argentina to fight," the statement said.

The club emphasised that they had made the journey solely to play football, following months of fundraising and personal sacrifice. In a statement, they expressed their belief in the sport as a vehicle for inclusion, respect and opportunity.

They officially logged the violent incident and called for a thorough investigation to ensure such events are never repeated. The statement concluded: "Violence does not represent us. Football, inclusion, and camaraderie do."

Neither the Argentine club nor the tournament organisers have yet issued any official response.
