Joe Worrall was the captain of Nottingham Forest as the Reds returned to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years back in 2022.
Worrall’s career has since taken a bit of a strange turn, with the player moving to Burnley and playing a bit-part role before moving to Wrexham in the summer, where he’s eyeing up another promotion.
Worrall defended Forest for their recruitment in 2022 on a recent podcast, and he’s now praised one Reds star for his ability to come off the bench and impact games.

What have YOU made about Liam Delap's start to life at Nottingham Forest?! BIG things were expected…
Worrall has been speaking on the latest episode of the ‘That Wrexham Podcast’, and he’s had some praise for Forest captain Ryan Yates.
The subject turned to players who are solid at making an impact from the bench in games, and Worrall thinks Yates is a master of that particular art.
The former Forest defender said: “Some people just play better from the bench. Forest captain Ryan Yates, he’s like quality, and his biggest selling point is that he’s unbelievable coming off the bench.
“Like I feel for him so much because he’s got that tag. He’s one of those players who you always look at and think, ‘Right, last 20 minutes, get him on.’ He’s class at it.”
Yates is yet to play for Forest this season having been an unused substitute in all but one game under Oliver Glasner, with the captain injured for the first game of the season against Leeds
Forest will likely give Yates a chance to shine at some point in the coming games, with the Reds valuing what he brings to the team.
As good as he’s proved at times during his Forest career, the Premier League has often seen him fall down the pecking order a little bit with a host of managers preferring other options.
With Forest struggling for a win in the Premier League, it’s uncertain what the future holds for Yates under Glasner, and he will surely consider starting the homegrown player in the coming weeks if results don’t improve.
