Lane Kiffin continues to struggle against his former program, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kiffin’s LSU Tigers lost 31-13 to Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama on Saturday.
The loss marked Kiffin’s sixth straight loss to Alabama in his coaching career, including his tenure at Ole Miss and Tennessee. Kiffin served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under head coach Nick Saban from 2014 to 2016.
Fans poked fun at Kiffin after his latest loss to Alabama.
“Lane Kiffin will never amount to anything. He begged and pleaded for the Alabama job and had to settle for LSU. Jobs like Alabama will never hire someone like him,” one fan wrote.
Some fans compared Kiffin to former Tigers head coach Brian Kelly.
LSU took a 13-10 lead in the third quarter before Alabama scored 21 unanswered points to secure the victory.
The loss against Alabama on Saturday was LSU’s third of the season.
According to USA Today’s John Leuzzi, LSU’s College Football Playoff chances have taken a massive hit, with the Tigers now sitting at 6-3 overall and 3-3 in SEC play. The defeats have come against Ole Miss, Kentucky and Alabama.
LSU needs to win all its remaining games, including against No. 7 Texas and No. 13 Tennessee, to have a realistic playoff argument. Even a 9-3 finish would likely not be enough.
