Back
One of the few bright spots for Texas A&M this season has been the rise of freshman running back KJ Edwards, who now leads the Aggies with 55 carries for 360 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. The former five-star prospect's potential is through the roof, and with four games left in the regular season, the plan is to make him the offensive focal point.
Set to face South Carolina in Columbia on Saturday afternoon, Edwards will face the Gamecocks' 31st-ranked rushing defense, which is allowing 115 yards per game on the ground, and will look to force Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed to drop back in the pocket early and often. However, Edwards' elite cutting ability and vision should result in more positive runs if the offensive line does its part.
During the Aggies' Week 8 31-20 road loss to Alabama, Edwards received just eight carries for 43 yards, and while he led the team in rushing, a deep leg contusion kept him sidelined except for three carries in the second half. Edward's lack of explosiveness hindered the Aggies' offensive game plan, and you can be sure he'll be motivated to get back on the field.
On Tuesday, KJ Edwards spoke to the media before the Aggies face South Carolina on Saturday, saying he is "back right" and will return to the lineup in full form, hoping to set the tone on the ground and give the offense a real shot at an upset.
