Bayern's honorary president still harbours some feelings of regret having let Florian Wirtz slip through their fingers in summer of 2025.
Uli Hoeneß has revealed in an interview that he is still annoyed that Florian Wirtz's transfer to Bayern Munich didn't go through in 2025.
“No. Because Florian would play much better for us than he does at Liverpool," Bayern's honorary president told Welt am Sonntag.
“I watch many of the team’s [Liverpool's] games. They simply haven’t integrated him properly at all.
“In Leverkusen he got every ball, in Liverpool he’s just one among many,” said Hoeneß, noting how the midfielder in no longer a focal point.
However, Hoeneß was quick to rule out the German record champions as a fallback option for Wirtz to reignite his career.
"No. He has a long-term contract in Liverpool. They will try to integrate him better there," he said of the Reds' €125million signing.
Wirtz's form has recently even shown some improvement. Nevertheless, transfer rumors away from Merseyside still persist.
