British heavyweight legend Frank Bruno faced Lennox Lewis in the historic ‘Battle of Britain’ back in Cardiff in 1993. Next month, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will collide in perhaps the biggest domestic clash of all time in the Welsh capital and Bruno has now updated his prediction for the contest.

Fury and Joshua have each become two-time heavyweight world champions during their iconic careers but when they go toe-to-toe and a victor is crowned, boxing’s fifth three-time heavyweight king will be determined, with the WBA (Super) heavyweight world title set to be on the line as well as the much-desired bragging rights.

When the fight was rumoured earlier this year, Bruno doubted how much ‘The Gypsy King’ had left at the age of 37 years old, stating that old age may have caught up with Fury.

However, after witnessing Joshua’s shock performance against Kristian Prenga, Bruno admitted that he could not envisage an ‘AJ’ win.

“If AJ can get there first he will do a number [on Fury], but I can’t see it because Tyson Fury is a very tricky customer, he can fight and once he fancies something, he is a dangerous guy.

“[Joshua] has got to rely on it [his power], but how many times has Tyson been on the floor and how many times has he got up?

“Deontay Wilder was an animal and he had him under control, Tyson Fury. I have always rated Tyson Fury, he has got a lot more skill than a lot of people give him credit for and he has got a lot of bottle.”

Yet, with just five weeks to go until the blockbuster event, Bruno told the Fight Your Corner podcast, that Joshua has got a ‘puncher’s chance’.

“He is a very, very good guy, Anthony Joshua. He has got a puncher’s chance against Fury, but Fury is a very difficult guy, he is a very physical guy.”

Fury-Joshua takes place on Friday, December 11, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with Deontay Wilder and Jai Opetaia scheduled to meet in the highlight of the undercard, live on Netflix.
