FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football wide receiver Chris Marshall and running back Braylen Russell are trending toward playing in this weekend's matchup against Auburn.
The Razorbacks (3-5, 1-4 SEC) listed both players as probable on the initial SEC Availability Report that was released Wednesday, Nov. 4. Marshall did not play in the 34-10 loss to Missouri, while Russell logged one snap and one carry for zero yards.
There were two other notable names on the report, with Quincy Rhodes and Steven Soles Jr. also listed as probable.
Russell's absence coincided with a halt in momentum for the Hogs' running game. Russel and Arkansas had season-best performances in the victory over Vanderbilt, but Missouri held the Razorbacks to 59 yards on 36 carries. Auburn (4-4, 2-4) ranks 89th nationally in rushing defense.
Marshall was a game-time decision against Missouri who never went through pregame warmups. He suffered a leg injury against Vanderbilt and did not play in the second half of that game. Arkansas is desperate to get Marshall and a surging Antonio Jordan on the field together since Jordan has asserted himself as a reliable option for KJ Jackson.
Auburn saw three defensive backs — Andre Jordan Jr., AnQuon Fegas and Sylvester Smith-Reed — exit with injuries during its loss to Ole Miss last week. Jordan and Smith-Reed popped up on this week's availability report.
