Alexander Volkov is not buying Dana White’s claim about their interaction.
The Russian heavyweight contender handled business inside the cage last Saturday at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.
Before title fight wins for Alexander Volkanovski and Petr Yan, Volkov defeated Rizvan Kuniev on the main card to continue his push for a long-awaited title shot.
While he got the result he wanted out of his trip to the Middle East, ‘Drago’ did not get the answer he was looking for from the UFC president a couple of days before his win.
Yet another victory for the 6'7 Russian, how much more can he do?
There was an awkward moment at the UFC 333 press conference, as Dana White seemingly failed to recognize Volkov.
The Russian was not chosen to be on stage for the presser but appeared in the crowd to ask the UFC president what he must do to secure a heavyweight title shot.
While many believed White did not know who the Russian star was until Volkanovski told him, the UFC boss insisted that was not the case and claimed to have been playing along to some kind of bit.
It is safe to say that Volkov is not buying that.
“I saw they didn’t have me on the press conference again, the same as the last three fights,” Volkov said during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show. “I don’t know why. I just went through the regular gates like a regular fan.
“Of course he (White) didn’t recognize me. First of all, I am a Russian fighter, I’m not even sure he can remember my name. I bet every time he hears my name, he thinks they’re talking about Alexander Volkanovski.
“But to talk seriously, he still didn’t have an answer to my question,” he continued. “I’m asking, what should I do? What am I supposed to do to get a title fight? And they don’t have an answer.”
Alexander Volkov asked Dana White how to get a title shot at the UFC 333 press conference 😭 🗣️ Dana: "How old are you? What are you looking for, how can we help you?" 🗣️ Volkov: "I want to become UFC champion. What should I do to get a title shot?" 🗣️ Dana: "Talk to Sean and Mick."

Volkov has now won three straight fights since a controversial loss to current UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane.
Had the Russian been awarded the decision victory over the Frenchman that most agreed he deserved in December 2024, he would be on an eight-fight winning streak.
