After meeting with the interested club, Sean subsequently held positive discussions with Clitheroe FC Chairman Danny Wilkins and Director of Football Carl Garner, resulting in an agreement that will see him remain at the helm for the foreseeable future.
The decision reflects the club’s recognition of the significant work Sean has undertaken since taking charge, as well as a shared belief in the direction in which Clitheroe FC is heading.
Having completed his first full season in management during the 2025/26 campaign, Sean guided the Blues to a series of memorable and historic cup achievements, helping to generate excitement among supporters and further strengthen the club’s ambitions both on and off the pitch.
One of Sean’s biggest achievements with the Blues is the history-making FA Trophy campaign in 2025/2026.
The campaign saw Clitheroe take on Ashton United, Stockton Town, Chester, York City and finally Scunthorpe United.
A highlight of this campaign came from the penalties that were taken at home against York City in front of over 2,000 fans!
The club believes the progress made under Sean’s leadership provides a strong foundation for continued growth, with a renewed culture developing within the playing squad and a clear vision for the future.
Clitheroe have made a positive start to the new season, with the club keen to maintain that momentum and establish a sustained challenge towards the top end of a highly competitive division.
The current squad reflects the club’s approach of combining experienced players who have competed at higher levels with a talented group of younger players brought in to develop and contribute to the team’s long-term success.
This blend is supported by an ambitious management team, whose experience in the professional game and commitment to the club’s progress are central to its plans.
While the challenges of competing in such a demanding division are well recognised, the club believes that stability, continuity and a clear footballing philosophy provide the best platform for future success.
Chairman Danny Wilkins and Director of Football Carl Garner remain committed to supporting Sean and his management team to the best of the club’s abilities, as Clitheroe FC looks to build on the progress already made and continue moving forward.
With Sean committed to the project and a strong sense of togetherness developing throughout the club, Clitheroe FC will now look to build on the recent achievements and continue delivering progress that supporters can be proud of.
