The Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend continues today with the second free practice session. Follow the latest news from the Interlagos circuit live with GPblog's liveblog below!

Ever since the Sprint format was introduced to Formula 1, the Interlagos circuit had hosted one every year until this season. As a result, instead of Sprint Qualifying, the schedule in Brazil today will continue with the second free practice session. Next year, the Sprint will once again return to the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

During the first session earlier today, Lando Norris set the pace ahead of Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen in his McLaren with new updates. The Briton's best lap time was a 1:11.717, making him less than a tenth of a second quicker than this year's world champion and around two tenths quicker than the Dutchman. Lewis Hamilton set the fourth-quickest time, while Charles Leclerc sat out the session, with Dino Beganovic taking his place.

Just days after Antonelli was crowned champion, Mercedes is ready to celebrate once again. If the German outfit manages to outscore Ferrari by three points on Sunday, it will also clinch this year's World Constructors' Championship. However, Mercedes will also have to consider that George Russell will receive a five-place grid penalty for the race after taking a new internal combustion engine for this weekend.

Haas team principal Komatsu speaks for the first time about Ocon’s dismissal

Rafael Camara is making his Formula 1 debut this weekend after it was announced earlier this week that he would replace Esteban Ocon at Haas for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Ocon will no longer race for the American team in 2026.

Ocon was previously replaced by Ryo Hirakawa in Mexico. "On Saturday morning in Mexico, when I had to tell everyone that Esteban wasn't going to drive anymore and Ryo was getting into the car, everybody was obviously surprised," Ayao Komatsu, Haas F1's team principal said.

"As I've said, I couldn't go into the details. I told them that normally, within the team, I want to be as transparent as possible. I want everyone to understand the context behind a decision. But in this case, I couldn't say much more.

"All I asked was that they give Ryo as much support as possible, because he was being thrown into the car in the middle of an event. I knew they would do that anyway, and they were absolutely brilliant. Everyone just got on with the job."
