Safely into the 2nd round.
A competent, rather than spectacular performance, saw the Hatters ease past Forest Green Rovers to reach the next round of the 2027 FA Cup., at Kenilworth Road, yesterday.
Despite trying myself to big the competition up, allied with our fine recent form, the attendance was disappointing, a mere 4325 filed into Kenilworth Road, leaving thousands of visible empty seats.
What makes the attendance even more disappointing are the facts that admission prices were reduced to entice people to come to the game and also our EFL League One game, against Cambridge United next Saturday, has been postponed due to international call-ups.
Jack Wilshere, as our readership had hoped, selected a strong side, obviously not wanting to be on the end of an FA Cup upset.
Any thoughts of Shandon Baptiste starting were thwarted with the midfielder, out for 14 months due to injury, only making thee bench.
Any chances of a cup upset happening were, effectively, quelled when the Hatters took the lead, through Emilio Lawrence, as early as the 4th minute.
In what was a game that, due to the attendance, lacked any real atmosphere, Luton Town killed the game off just before half-time when Jordan Clark doubled the lead.
Despite being two goals down, Forest Green Rovers did not show enough attacking intent to seriously threaten the Hatters except for a late effort that skimmed the bar.
With the game won, Luton Town now wait until Monday for the draw to be made for the 2nd round of the competition, allocated ball #4, personally, I would be happy with a home draw against any of the teams left in the competition from EFL League Two or the National League.
But do my thoughts concur with yours when it comes to our next opponents, please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.
Finally, I would like to thank everybody who took part, before kick-off, in the Remembrance Day commeration, your conduct was exemplary and as usual, brought a tear to my eye.
