The India vs Bangladesh series which has been delayed due to different reasons, is yet again on the cards. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the government are trying to make this tour a reality. The two neighbours have shared good relationships previously, but it has deteriorated due to diplomatic reasons. Recent reports suggest the tour could happen in January 2027.

India vs Bangladesh have gained much attention whenever these two teams have taken the field; the on-field rivalry and off-field friendships between the two sides have been a treat to watch. They have given some of the best matches in history. There have been no problems between the players despite the deteriorated relationship between the two countries.

India vs Bangladesh tour to happen in January 2027?

As per reports from India Today, the India vs Bangladesh tour is expected to get a green light in January 2027. The Men in Blue are likely to travel to their neighbouring country at the start of the forthcoming year, and if there are no more restrictions from either side, the fans might actually get the good news.

The first week of the month is emerging as a possible window for the six-match white-ball series. It has been reported that there will be three ODIs and three T20Is between the two sides. The two teams have been performing well in the white-ball format, and the Bangla Tigers are also doing well in the traditional format of the game.

Why is India vs Bangladesh tough to schedule in January?

Nothing has been confirmed by the BCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, as per the reports, it is suggested that the tour is very much a possibility. Though there is one problem for the India vs Bangladesh tour to happen in January, as the Men in Blue already have a packed schedule in the same month.

Zimbabwe will be touring the subcontinent from January 3-9, where they are scheduled to play three ODI matches. Next is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) between India and Australia, beginning January 21, as the Men in Blue host the Aussies for a five-match Test series. As a result, the window for the six-match series with Bangladesh will be shortened.

Will the Indian government go ahead with the India-Bangladesh series?

The tour will only be possible if the Indian government gives the green light due to the recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries. As India's tour of Bangladesh was first postponed in July last year, and Bangladesh's decision to not play their T20 World Cup games in India this year only made things worse between the two countries.

Current BCB chiefs Tamim Iqbal want to rebuild good relations with the BCCI, not just for bilateral cricket, but also at the Asian Cricket Council and ICC levels. The Bangladesh government has also changed after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won in this year's General Elections. They also want this series to turn into reality and bring back good relations between the two countries.
