Preston North End claimed their fifth point of the season after a frustrating 1-1 draw with West Brom in a tightly contested affair at Deepdale.
Andrew Hughes’ poked effort from the corner late in the game was cancelled out minutes later by Aune Heggebo’s equaliser.
It was one of PNE’s better performances this season, seeing far more fight and intensity from the players as they chased the game and the winner after having their goal made redundant.
A penalty denied was also another huge talking point as the scorer Hughes was hacked down ruthlessly by Ousmane Diakite.
Nevertheless, the performance was a needed one after the disastrous season so far, lets rate the players and find out who was the man of the match.
The Danish shotstopper looked more like himself in this clash, making four saves and preventing an xG. of 0.8.
A superb save from Isaac Price at point blank range kept North End in the game.
The 23-year old displayed just why he is the best option of the right-hand side for the back three.
Calm on the ball, contributes greatly in and out of possession, and all-round solid defensive performance.
13 defensive contributions, three ground duels won, seven clearances, and three tackles – more of the same please.
A much better performance from the man who has come under a lot of fire this season.
Aerially a dominant figure with two duels won, 19 defensive contributions (the most in the match), and wasn’t dribbled past once – once again, more of the same going forward.
The 34-year old rolled it back with this performance – 13 defensive contributions, bombed forward when needed, got the opening goal, and won nine of his ground duels and five aerial duels won.
A colossus performance from the Welsh defender.
Created a golden opportunity for Delano Burgzorg, other than that, the 22-year old didn’t pull up any trees.
The most technically gifted player in this team – his press-resistant nature and ability to dictate from deep is going to be extremely crucial for North End going forward.
Five dribbles completed, six ground duels won, and an assist for the opener, it seems we’ve figured how to unlock even more from the Frenchman.
His return to the eleven was met with a mixed reception, however the 32-year old was a tireless runner in the midfield and contributed to the wide positions when he drifted.
Beaten far too easily at times and seemed to be hungover from that Wrexham performance where he let Danny Imray beat him twice, leading to goals.
Just a bad day at the office.
A tight calf ruled him out of the rest of the game after being subbed at half-time, however he looked far more settled in a more central position rather out wide.
Creating two chances in his half-a-game. Hopefully we see him in this position going forward.
Fluffed two golden chances in the second half that could’ve seen the game out of West Brom’s reach.
Effort levels cannot be questioned, but the quality has to improve.
It’s night and day when the Irish forward starts ahead of Erabi, you get far more mobility, a quicker option, and someone who isn’t afraid to run at people.
His wide runs and technical ability allowed him to create chances for Burgzorg and even create space for oncoming midfield options.
Effort levels through the roof, defensively solid, and looked to get forward at every opportunity.
A solid display from the Irishman.
A pretty unremarkable cameo, but that’s not his fault necessarily.
Lang is more of a late-runner/poacher option whose game is best utilised when he’s latching onto the end of balls into the box and sniffing around in the 18-yard box.
Nothing of note, other than he had a shot and it went out for a throwing. He needs to drastically improve.
