Every Ospreys and Dragons player rated out of 10 in the Welsh derby

The Ospreys made a winning start to life at St Helen's on Saturday, beating the Dragons 31-14.

Here's how the players rated...

Tom Rogers 7 v Huw Anderson 5

Not quite player of the match material like his last outing against the Dragons, but Rogers was solid in difficult conditions.

Anderson, brought into the side late on after wing Jared Rosser pulled out, was decent enough - although there were one or two moments of overplaying early on.

Iestyn Hopkins 6 v Anzelo Tuitavuki 6

Always a willing chaser under the high ball, Hopkins did get a few more moments will ball in hand later on in the match.

A mixed bag for the Dragons man. Beat some defenders and scored, but botched another try and fumbled a kick-off into touch that led to the Ospreys' penalty try.

Owen Watkin 7 v Fetuli Paea 6

Watkin was his defensively sound self as the Ospreys were able to keep the Dragons at bay more often than not.

As for Paea, was busy before injury struck late on. Blow for the Dragons if he's sidelined.

Keiran Williams N/A v Aneurin Owen 5

The Ospreys centre was forced off early through injury, although he carried a fair amount before his departure.

As for Owen, in the week he was called up by Wales, his evening was marred by a yellow card for a high tackle.

Keelan Giles 6 v Rio Dyer 6

After a bit of a running battle in Newport a couple of weeks ago, a mazy run by Dyer that saw Giles bundle his fellow wing into touch hinted at something similar. But it wasn't that kind of night. Dyer's injury will be a worry.

Dan Edwards 7 v Tinus de Beer 5

The Wales fly-half's kicking wasn't always perfect, but he was rewarded at times for being ambitious - particularly when kicking for touch.

De Beer was a little messy at times, while he found himself in the sin-bin for illegally sacking a maul.

Reuben Morgan-Williams 8 v Rhodri Williams 5

This could be a big few weeks for Morgan-Williams, as he prepares to head into Wales camp with the chance of establishing himself in the matchday 23.

Took his two tries well as he continued his fine form. Against him, Williams played the conditions well enough and set up Dyer's score, but was sent to the sin-bin early in the second-half.

Gareth Thomas 7 v Dillon Lewis 6

Typical defensive work around the park from the Wales loosehead.

Lewis made a nice break in the first-half, but couldn't get a try-scoring pass away.

Sam Parry 7 v Elliot Dee 7

First few lineouts didn't quite function for Parry, but soon it became a massive weapon - with the co-captain scoring his 50th try for the club.

His opposite number Dee gave a typically all-action performance, too.

Tom Botha 7 v Rodrigo Martinez 6

Botha put pressure on the Dragons' scrum, although didn't get the rewards. Part of a strong pack that set the tone up front.

Rhys Davies 7 v Seb Davies 6

The Davies of the Seb variety, recalled by Wales this week, was close to double figures in both tackles and carries.

But he was outplayed by namesake Rhys, who - even with a couple of penalties thrown in the mix - was key to the Ospreys' pack being on top, helping his side nullify any maul threat. The Ospreys enforcer made a point to the Wales selectors with his performance.

Ryan Smith 8 v Ben Carter 6

Gave away a few penalties, but Smith was brilliant throughout.

A frustrating night for Carter, with an ankle knock in the first-half followed by a head injury early in the second.

Liam Wright 7 v Barny Langton-Cryer 6

Great pick-up off the deck at one point, while the former Wallaby captain got through a fair bit of work. His lineout expertise was to the fore again, as well.

Langton-Cryer was up there for tackles, but didn't too a lot in terms of carrying.

Harri Deaves 7 v Harry Beddall 7

The Dragons tried early on to get under the skin of Deaves, but he set the tone with a breakdown penalty 50 seconds in.

Beddall, good carrying option off the base of the scrum. Plenty of tackles, but sometimes a little overeager at the breakdown.

Morgan Morris 7 v Shane Lewis-Hughes 7

Both No. 8s got through a remarkable carrying load on the night, with no one taking the ball into contact more than Lewis-Hughes - while he was strong over the ball.

On the flipside, no one bettered Morris' 22 tackles.

Replacements:

Efan Daniel 6 v Oli Burrows 6

Both hookers were solid if unspectacular off the bench.

Steffan Thomas 5 v Jordan Morris 6

The Ospreys prop gave a couple of penalties away, with the Dragons scrum also getting some joy.

Rhys Henry 5 v Chris Coleman 6

Similar story for Henry, with the Ospreys scrum giving up a couple of penalties late on.

Huw Sutton 7 v Matthew Screech 6

Good breakdown turnover for a penalty late on as Sutton kept the Ospreys' lineout functioning nicely.

Ross Moriarty 7 v Evan Minto 7

Given the name Moriarty is synonymous with St Helen's, he just had to be on the scoresheet. Big shift off the bench.

Some nice moments from Minto off the bench as he looked to help the Dragons chase the game.

Luke Davies 6 v Che Hope 6

Davies a bit scrappy with his service, including a pass straight into touch. As for Hope, too much to do in terms of turning the game around.

Lawson Creighton N/A v Jac Lloyd 6

Creighton got on too late in the day, while Lloyd was brought on when the Dragons were 31-7 down.

Lalakai Foketi 7 v Fine Inisi 6

Didn't carry all that much, but gave the Ospreys' attack another dimension. Just classy.

Great tackle by Inisi to stop Iestyn Hopkins scoring late on.
