Celtic finally kickstarted their Europa League campaign as they came from 1-0 down to beat Besiktas 3-2 at Parkhead on Thursday night.

Celtic came into the clash with the Turkish giants having lost all three of their Europa League fixtures this term, with two of those being at home to Ferencvaros and Celta Vigo.

It proved to be third time lucky for the Hoops at Parkhead as they saw off Besiktas, even though it looked like it could be the same old story for them in Europe when they went 1-0 down in the 54th minute.

The double introduction of Camilo Duran and Callum Osmand on the hour-mark changed the game in their favour, with the latter drawing the scoreline level just two minutes after coming on.

Duran then gave the hosts the lead in the 78th minute, before Orkun Kukcu equalised for the visitors in the 85th minute.

At that stage, fans may have thought that a draw was the most likely result, but Duran sent Celtic Park into raptures when he struck again in the 87th minute as they secured their first points of the campaign.

The Bhoys signed Duran for around £6m in the summer from Azerbaijani side Qarabag, but bigger things were expected from fellow attacking signing Kasper Hogh following his goalscoring exploits with Bodo/Glimt.

However, it has been the Colombia international who has been the star of the show in attack for O'Neill's men, taking his tally to 13 goals for the season on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hogh has netted three times in 17 appearances for the Glasgow giants, although they all came in the same game against Kilmarnock back in August.

Duran is already a fan favourite unsurprisingly, but he isn't the only summer arrival shining in a green and white shirt.

Duran looks as though he can go on to become a future Celtic superstar based on what we've seen so far, but it is Mika Baur who is actually looking like the signing of the summer for the Hoops.

It has become painfully clear that the Glasgow outfit lack legs in midfield with captain Callum McGregor getting no younger, and O'Neill may have found the answer to the issue with Baur.

Celtic paid nearly £7m to sign the midfielder from Paderborn in the summer, but he is quickly establishing himself as one of the team's most important players.

Baur has been impressive whenever he has been on the pitch this term, but he hit new heights against Besiktas on Thursday, picking up Fotmob's second-highest rating for his performance, behind Duran.

The 22-year-old was absolutely everywhere as he helped Celtic secure their first Europa League points, proving he has the engine to be popping up all over the pitch.

It isn't just his off-the-ball work that is impressive though, as he is strong in possession too, as he showed against the Turkish club.

With some of Celtic's summer buys like Haissem Hassan, Hogh and Oliver Sorensen struggling to hit the ground running, it is refreshing to see how well Baur has started his Hoops career.

Sometimes there are players you can just tell are a step above at Celtic, with Arne Engels the last of those prior to his switch to West Ham United in the summer.

The early signs are that Baur is destined for big things, and he is quickly becoming the club's best signing since the Belgian star.
