Southampton are reportedly eyeing another addition to their academy from Scottish football.
Rangers youngster David Odunukan is emerging as a potential target for the Championship club.
The Saints have been looking beyond England for emerging defensive talent, and their latest scouting activity suggests Rangers could be facing a battle to retain one of their promising youngsters.
Southampton had scouts present at Cormack Park on Friday to watch Rangers Under-17s take on Aberdeen, with 15-year-old David Odunukan among those attracting attention.
Football Insider have reported that the Saints were monitoring the defender, who started as Rangers recovered from going behind to claim a 3-1 victory.
It is an interesting development for Rangers, particularly given the reputation Odunukan has built since arriving at the club from Motherwell in 2025.
Primarily a central defender, the London-born youngster has quickly established himself as one to watch within the Rangers academy.
However, Southampton's interest could present a challenge for the Scottish giants, who will be keen to keep hold of one of their brightest prospects.
There is no indication yet that the Saints have made a formal approach, nor is the extent of their interest known.
The potential pursuit of Odunukan would not be an isolated move from Southampton, who have already demonstrated a willingness to recruit from Scottish academies.
Harris Afzal made the switch from Queen's Park earlier in 2026, with the 16-year-old having already gained valuable senior experience before heading south.
The Saints also recruited Rory Whittaker from Hibernian in 2025. The defender has since become a regular feature of their Under-21 side, suggesting the club are prepared to invest in players who can develop through their academy structure.
Odunukan would fit that profile, although his age means any potential move would represent a longer-term investment rather than an immediate first-team solution.
The interest also highlights the growing challenge Scottish clubs face in retaining their best young players, with English sides increasingly looking north for emerging talent.
Rangers will be determined to avoid another departure, particularly with Odunukan eligible to sign professional terms early next year.

Interestingly, Southampton are not the only ones keeping a close eye on Odunukan's development, with the teenager also attracting attention at international level.
Born in London but raised in Scotland, the defender is eligible to represent both nations and has already had involvement with Scotland's Under-16s.
However, England have recently moved to include him in their squad for the Val de Marne tournament in France, following his impressive performances at the SuperCupNI.
Odunukan started England's opening fixture against Italy - a 4-2 loss - but did not feature in their subsequent meetings with Japan and France.
His international future is far from settled, with neither nation having secured his long-term allegiance.
Players remain free to switch international representation until they are tied down by a competitive senior appearance.
For Rangers, the priority will be ensuring that the defender's future at club level is equally secure.
With Southampton reportedly monitoring his progress, the Ibrox hierarchy could have an important decision to make in the coming months.
