Nations Championship to change Emmerdale and Corrie schedule

Soap fans often see sports matches alter the schedule and this week, it's the Nations Championship that will disrupt the usual schedule.

Here's what we know about the TV schedule for soaps in the coming days.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street soap schedules to change this week

While Emmerdale and Coronation Street will mostly follow their usual schedules this week, there is one exception.

That's because the Nations Championship (Ireland v Argentina) will kick off at 8.10pm on Friday, with coverage starting from 7.15pm.

These broadcast times mean the rugby match will cross over both slots for Emmerdale and Coronation Street, which are usually on at 8pm and 8.30pm respectively.

Soap fans will not see an episode on Sunday, meaning they'll miss out on two of their 10 weekly episodes if they watch both soaps.

Emmerdale favourite makes surprise return to ITV soap

Emmerdale favourite Victoria Sugden has made a surprise return to the screen.

The character, played by Isabel Hodgins, appeared in a video call during the Friday, October 30 episode of the ITV soap.

This marks Victoria’s first appearance since fleeing to Portugal earlier in the year after killing her half-brother John in self-defence.

The scene was filmed secretly during Ms Hodgins’ maternity leave.

Ms Hodgins, 32, welcomed her daughter Georgie in February with husband Adam Whitehead.

In the call, Robert urged Victoria to return to the village to help with a new family business, but she declined.

Victoria told him: "I’m happy here. I won’t lie to you Robert.

Which EastEnders star is leaving after 9 years?

"I won’t ever feel like coming back.

"I have to do what’s right for me.

"I’ve got to go, I’m sorry."

Ms Hodgins had previously expressed hopes to return to Emmerdale full time in September.

She said: "To be honest, I still don’t know when I’m going back.

"In my ideal world, it would be September.

"And then it’s all systems go.

"[That’s when] it really starts with the juggling and potential mum guilt, and whatever."

The brief video call suggests that a full-time return for Ms Hodgins is not expected this year.
