Luton Town – The Winner Is Announced
Luton Town – The Winner Is Announced

It was not even close!

Recently, via our poll facility, I have been trying to decipher who our readership believe is our best loan signing made during the 2026 summer transfer window.

As I explained in the following article – loan-chit-chat-part-two – I was forced, due to the framework of the site administration, to conduct the experiment in two stages.

With the first poll winner, Dan Gore, being pitted against the remaining two candidates – Tudor Mendel and Harrison Ashby.

With the poll having had time to run its course, I can now reveal that you, our readership, are of the view that Harrison Ashby deserves the accolade of our best summer transfer loan window signing, collecting 70% of the votes cast compared to the 23% who selected Dan Gore and the 7% who chose Tudor Mendel.

Harrison Ashby was brought to Kenilworth Road on a season-long loan deal.

Immediately he made the desired impression, strong in defence and excellent at getting down the flank to provide attacking assistance.

However, when he signed, concerns were expressed that he was injury prone.

That is something that the Hatters faithful were wary of and Harrison has missed some games courtesy of minor injuries.

Recently, Harrison was shown a red-card, after picking up two yellow cards in the home defeat against Bradford City, thereby missing the next EFL League One fixture against Wycombe Wanderers (a).

A knock sustained in training prevented his selection against MK Dons (a) and Barnsley (h), but it is hoped, if Jack Wilshere is prepared to change a winning side, he may make a comeback against Leicester City, this Saturday.

Hopefully, Harrison can now go o a long run of games, thereby justifying the faith the support the Luton Town faithful, and in particular our readership, have in him.

If so, perhaps, with the player being in the final year of his contract, he may become our first summer signing in the 2027 summer transfer window.
