Dak Prescott received support from fans against Chris “Mad Dog” Russo’s criticism of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Prescott & Co. fell 33-30 in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday despite leading by 14 points early in the fourth quarter, dropping the Cowboys to 3-5 this season.

On Tuesday’s “First Take,” Russo pointed out several mistakes of Prescott this season, while taking a jibe at the signal-caller’s four-year, $240 million contract.

“He’s making $60 million a year,” Russo said. “Against the Ravens, he had a first down at the 2-yard line, and they couldn’t put the ball in the end zone. He had to settle for a field goal, and he left time on the clock for the Ravens to come back and beat him. … The other day, he had the ball twice. They had the ball after an onside kick at the Arizona 20-yard line with 2:10 to go in a game. And Arizona had one timeout. And he’s going to settle for a field goal.”

However, fans defended the quarterback from Russo’s strong take.

“Always blaming Dak for everything,” one fan wrote.

“Care to go over the play calling in that scenario? ESPN has mad dog giving football takes and they’re wondering why their ratings are tanking,” one fan said.

“He didn’t even look at the whole game. Dak got sacked in OT when his two tackles got cooked,” one fan reacted.

“You people are Dallas obsessed!!” one fan remarked.

“Mad dog. I disagree with you,” one fan added.

“I guess dak plays every position 🤣🤣 I guess dak give up at least 30 points a game that’s why I don’t want these shows anymore,” one fan wrote sarcastically.

Dak Prescott Gets Concerning Prediction as Cowboys QB1

Through eight games this season, Dak Prescott has looked inconsistent at best and has fallen flat on expectations once again despite holding one of the biggest contracts in the NFL.

Prescott has completed 65.2% of passes for 2,046 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The loss to Arizona was the tip of the iceberg for many fans and analysts, who are holding Prescott accountable for the Cowboys’ poor start to the season. One of them is NFL analyst Chris Simms, a former NFL quarterback, who shared a concerning outlook on Prescott’s future with the Cowboys.

“There’s been some murmurs that, in Dallas, that they’re a little bit, like, at the end of their rope with Dak Prescott. Like, it’s like things better turn around or he ain’t gonna be the quarterback there next year,” Simms said. “We’ll see. We’ll see.”

Simms added that Prescott is playing nowhere near the level a quarterback earning so many bucks should be playing in his 11th season in the league.
