DETROIT -- The Philadelphia 76ers will play their ninth game of the season on Wednesday when they take on the Detroit Pistons on the road, and it will be their ninth without the services of Dominick Barlow.
Barlow has yet to play in the 2026-27 season due to a lower back stress reaction issue and the Sixers are still awaiting his return to the floor. He played 71 games in the previous season, his first in Philadelphia, and he averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds as he gave Philadelphia lot of energy on a nightly basis.
Coach Nick Nurse mentioned previously that Barlow was set to see a specialist about his back and he gave a quick update in Detroit.
"Yeah, it went pretty good," said Nurse of Barlow's visit. "He still got a little bit of time to wait, but they're pretty positive about it getting better, and I think it'll be another 10-to-12 days before they kind of clear him for getting on the court to see where he is there."
The return of Barlow would give the Sixers some more depth on the frontline. Until then, Adem Bona and Jabari Walker will hold down the fort in terms of backing up Joel Embiid.
