Wales boss and former Hammers favourite Craig Bellamy would be open to taking the West Ham job if Nuno Espirito Santo is axed soon with the timing seen as ideal and his release clause not an issue.

Pressure is mounting on the West Ham board to sack Nuno Espirito Santo after 13 uninspiring months at the Hammers helm.

Supporters have had misgivings with Nuno’s tactics, team selection and approach from the very start and many feel he was fortunate to be retained when he failed to keep West Ham in the Premier League.

Hammers fans were not overly convinced by the team’s nine-game unbeaten run in the Championship either before back-to-back home defeats to promotion rivals Southampton and West Brom saw calls for Nuno’s head grow louder than ever before.

Bellamy open to West Ham job due to ideal Wales timing

Former West Ham striker Craig Bellamy has been high on the list of names many supporters want to see replace Nuno if Daniel Kretinsky does act.

Hammers News exclusively revealed Kretinsky will review Nuno’s position if West Ham lose to Cardiff and Blackburn heading into the November international break.

And now Hammers News can reveal Bellamy ‘would be open to the West Ham job’ with the potential timing seen as ‘ideal’ and his £700,000 release clause not an issue.

Last month we revealed Bellamy would take the West Ham job if offered and is highly regarded by the Hammers hierarchy.

Former Hammers star and Bellamy’s close friend James Collins then backed up that revelation when appearing on talkSPORT.

Bellamy was on a shortlist of potential replacements, alongside Scott Parker and Kieran McKenna, if Nuno left in the summer but Kretinsky felt the Portuguese offered stability and continuity and had West Ham’s improved results in his favour from the second half of last season.

Now Hammers News can reveal that Bellamy would take the West Ham job if Nuno is axed over or after the November international break.

Not least because of the timing regarding his Wales tenure.

New Hammers hierarchy would pay Bellamy’s £700k release clause

Bellamy considered an approach from Burnley in the summer but ultimately turned it down feeling he owed it to Wales to continue at the helm.

But the November international break brings their Nations League campaign to a close with no fixtures for four months after that.

Hammers News has been told by a leading source with knowledge of the situation that Bellamy would find it ‘very difficult to turn West Ham down’ if they came knocking should Nuno be let go to coincide with the end of Wales’ Nations League campaign.

Burnley’s move for Bellamy previously exposed that the former firebrand forward had a £700,000 release clause.

West Ham rarely, if ever, paid compensation to hire managers under their old regime. But footing that bill will not be seen as an issue by Kretinsky and the new-look board.

Bellamy is well thought among fans for his attack-minded approach and love for the Hammers.

That has stuck in the minds of many West Ham fans as clamour grows for his return to east London.
