Bianca Andreescu won the Queretaro Open on Sunday, beating top seed Tatjana Maria 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 in 2 hours and 11 minutes in the WTA 125 final. The title lifts the Canadian 20 places to No. 109 in the rankings on Monday.
It is her second WTA 125 title in a row, and extends her winning streak to 10 matches. The fourth seed, a former world No. 4, had reached the final without dropping a set on the Mexican clay.
Maria fought hard on return, but Andreescu kept pressing. The Canadian converted six of her 24 break points. The German, 39, saved 18 break points and levelled the match by taking the second set 6-2, before Andreescu pulled away in the third.
