Wilder v Opetaia joins Fury vs Joshua undercard live on Netflix

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally clash on 11 December, boxing in Cardiff after almost a decade of build-up

Deontay Wilder will fight Jai Opetaia on the undercard for Tyson Fury’s long-awaited fight with Anthony Joshua in Cardiff.

The 31-year-old Opetaia, who is unbeaten in 31 bouts, winning 24 by knockout, will move up from cruiserweight to heavyweight against the former world champion Wilder.

Wilder has history with Fury and lost the final two bouts of their trilogy, with the 41-year-old since returning to winning ways by beating Derek Chisora in London in April.

Zuffa Boxing champion Opetaia had previously been linked with unbeaten three-weight world champion David Benavidez, although he will instead face Michael Cieslak.

Opetaia had previously signed for Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, with White involved in the promotion of Fury-Joshua on 11 December.

The former heavyweight champions will meet in a contest almost a decade in the making, headlining at Wales’s Principality Stadium and live on Netflix.

Fury, 38, and Joshua, 37, are expected to make their ring walks in the early hours of Saturday morning, and now the support bouts have been announced for the Friday evening.
