Manchester United officially begin search for new coach

The Red Devils have opened their search for a new coach, as the club’s desire to succeed continues to grow.

Manchester United officially begin search for new coach

Manchester United’s start to the season has been underwhelming, with manager Michael Carrick and the club’s ownership falling in line with scrunity.

One win in ten games across all competitions has raised pressure, with tomorrow’s game against Aston Villa at Old Trafford seen as important in dictating the short-term future.

A win in that game would be United’s first in the Premier League since August’s 5-2 routing of Ipswich Town, and would give the club another much-needed boost heading into the international break.

Defeat, on the other hand, could raise pressure on Carrick and the club’s ownership even further, possibly forcing the hierarchy into action.

United have already been preparing for Michael Carrick’s departure, contacting Didier Deschamps and Julian Naglesmann as the search for a replacement continues.

Across the club, meanwhile, incomings and outgoings are becoming quite frequent with several new positions becoming available.

The latest of those roles has now been promoted on LinkedIn, with Manchester United announcing that they are hiring for a Girls Academy Coach to work in the Foundation and YDP Phases.

United’s advertisment lists the following key responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality technical sessions and practices.
  • Contribute to IDP process with detailed objective and subjective feedback.
  • Plan and prepare for each match with particular emphasis on the needs of individual players.
  • To always adhere to the Manchester United development & coaching ‘Redprint’ philosophy.
  • To engage fully in CPD events organised internally and externally.
  • Support player welfare.
  • Uphold the standards of sportsmanship, behaviour and playing style expected at Manchester United.
  • Contribute towards a positive working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s safeguarding policy.
  • Deliver high quality coaching sessions to a range of age groups.
  • The coach must be available to work Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as weekends, at Eccles Sixth Form College.

It also lists the following required qualifications:

  • Coaching Award (minimum level 3/UEFA B Licence).
  • Emergency First Aid in Football qualification.
  • Valid Safeguarding Children certificate.
  • FA Youth Modules (Desirable).

The application deadline for the role has also been set at 20 November.

It is clear to see Manchester United are taking the steps required to improve their coaching at academy level.

With academy development remaining a priority, United will hope that this appointment strengthens their pathway and helps in their pursuit of nurturing the next generation of talent.
