Berkeley, Cane Bay, Cross and Summerville will send players to the 79th annual Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South All-Star Bowl.

At noon Dec. 12 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, 88 seniors from 69 high schools across the state will take the field for their final game of their high-school career. Eight Charleston-area athletes have been named to the event’s South All-Star Team.

Buy Now Berkeley quarterback Henry Rivers has been selected to participate in this year’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives South Carolina North-South All-Star Bowl.

Berkeley’s Henry Rivers is one of only three players selected as a quarterback for the all-star team. Oceanside Collegiate’s Aiden Manavian and Camden’s Greyson Rimpf are the other two.

Rivers is a four-year varsity starter for Berkeley who has more than 9,600 career yards of total offense and 100 combined passing and rushing touchdowns. He helped the Stags to the Lower State Championship game last season.

Kicker Aiden Thorn will represent Cane Bay during the senior all-star game. He suffered an injury this season so he has missed multiple games, but should return soon.

“We expect him to kick in college and he has this opportunity so we are being cautious about his return,” said Cane Bay coach Russel Zehr. “He should have plenty of time to be ready for that event. Kickoff wise he has been perfect on PATs and put a kickoff in the end zone, after a penalty, from the 35-yard line. He has a good leg and attended a lot of kicking camps. He is also dangerous as a punter. He was averaging about 42 yards per punt with a long punt of 55 before he went out.”

Buy Now Cross running back Mah’Ky Green has been selected to participate in this year’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives South Carolina North-South All-Star Bowl.

Running back Mah’Ky Green will represent Cross during the event. He has helped the Trojans win their last four games and outscore their opponents in those games 230-14.

Green is averaging 136 rushing yards per game and 15 receiving yards. He has 12 TDs in five games. On defense he averages two sacks, two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble per game.

Summerville outside linebacker Eli Pressley will play for the South defense. Pressley is the leader for a talented group of Green Wave linebackers. With his help the Summerville defense has surrendered an average of less than 14 points per game this season. Summerville has shutout two teams and held another pair to a single touchdown.

Pressley has 55 tackles in eight games including 11 solo stops. He also has an interception. He helped the Green Wave to a state runner-up finish the past two seasons.

James Island defensive lineman Robert Grant, Wando linebacker Ben Eikenberry and Bishop England defensive lineman Matthew Ponkow were also selected.
