Brewers star Christian Yelich opens up on emotional World Series victory moment with family and former Marine brother

MILWAUKEE Brewers star Christian Yelich won his first World Series, and he couldn’t have done it without his family.

Yelich led Milwaukee to its first World Series in franchise history.

Yelich can add a World Series ring to his already impressive resume which includes three All-Star nods, a two-time NL batting champion, and an NL MVP award.

But Yelich wasn’t finished – he got to add working a “shift” at Raising Cane’s in Greendale in the Milwaukee area on his resume.

Before it, The U.S. Sun received an exclusive interview with Yelich.

After the Brewers’ Game 5 to capture their first World Series title, Yelich emotionally paid tribute to beloeved franchise legend Bob Uecker, who died in January.

The U.S. Sun asked Yelich about his emotions upon speaking to his family, which includes his brother, Cameron, a former Marine, after the championship victory.

“It’s just awesome for them to share it with you and be there for the experience,” Yelich said.

“It takes a lot of people to get to that point.”

Cameron served in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed in Japan, Japan and the Philippines in addition to training in Hawaii.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp in 2018.

“It was quite the last month, and it finally culminating in winning a World Series, and everything that comes with that was awesome,” Yelich added.

Yelich’s journey to a title wasn’t easy, however, as the outfielder has had several seasons shortened due to injuries.

But Yelich stayed healthy from this June on, and he was named the first team captain in Brewers history just weeks prior to the postseason.

Milwaukee would go on to be 11-2 during a dominant playoff run.

And Yelich gave the team veteran leadership and key hits, and driving in 5 RBIs and a .383 on-base percentage across the playoffs.

“It was just a really fun team to play with and I really enjoyed being with these guys,” he told The U.S. Sun.

“You got contributions from everybody.

“It truly took the entire team at different points throughout the postseason.

Christian’s visit to Raising Cane’s followed a Brewers championship parade and a surprise Saturday Night Live cameo.

The Brewers captain’s served fans at Raising Cane’s as he was joined by his mom, Alecia, grandmother and dog.

Yelich served chicken finger meals from the front counter and drive-thru.

He even got to sign baseballs, jerseys, and other memorabilia at the restaurant.

“First we had the parade, then SNL and now I’m here at Cane’s – it’s awesome!” said Yelich.
