The first trophy week of the 2026 Michigan high school football playoffs should be memorable.
The 2026 MHSAA football district finals are packed with ranked matchups across all eight divisions of 11-player football, pitting bona fide state title contenders against each other in the second round. No matter where you are in Michigan, a great football game will be within driving distance on Friday night.
Undefeated-vs-undefeated matchups will be played in Divisions 1 (East Kentwood vs. Grand Ledge) and 4 (Edwardsburg vs. Portland). And then there are the undefeated vs. one-loss teams (Grand Blanc-Clarkston, Chelsea-Redford Thurston, Millington-Ithaca, Decatur-Springport).
That is just the beginning of a card filled with matchups with title implications all over the place.
On Friday, the Free Press will have an eastside double feature from Harper Woods vs. Detroit King in Division 3 and Grosse Pointe South vs. Temperance Bedford in Division 2. Detroit Edison vs. Clinton's Division 6 top-five matchup is on the Saturday docket.
Here are 64 predictions of who will become a district champion and advance to regional finals. Last week's record was 104-24 (81.3%). Let's see if we can keep that percentage up as the matchups get more difficult.
