Rioux, 20, was a benchwarmer for Florida for two seasons, one of which he was part of a national championship team during a redshirt year in 2025.

But the skyscraper transferred to UC Irvine, where he’s gotten an opportunity to showcase his skills.

Rioux debuted for the Anteaters on Tuesday, and he impressed to say the least.

He posted 13 points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes during a 92-66 victory over the Chapman Panthers.

Rioux started in the contest and recorded the second-most points for his team.

The Canadian native is expected to be a key contributor to UC Irvine.

Rioux’s decision to transfer to the Anteaters was calculated, as he was interested in teaming up with Russell Turner, who has experience in developing very tall players.

Turner developed 7ft 6in Mamadou Ndiaye into a Big West Defensive Player of the Year in the 2013-14 season.

Ndiaye went on to be undrafted in the NBA after previously being the tallest player in NCAA basketball history.

He just played for the Golden State Warriors in the Summer League.

Rioux now holds the title of the tallest player in NCAA basketball history.

He’s an amazing five inches taller than San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.

He’ll have to continue to develop after recording just one block in his debut.

Rioux will look to impress evaluators when UC Irvin takes on San Jose State on Saturday.
