German national team head coach Jürgen Klopp will name his squad on November 5 for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Serbia and the Netherlands, the German Football Association (DFB) announced. Following a 44-player preliminary roster called up for his managerial debut, the incoming squad will shrink significantly. Klopp previously stated that the team would not use two different squads for two different games.
The DFB squad, led by captain Joshua Kimmich, will gather on November 9 in Herzogenaurach for training ahead of a November 13 away fixture in Belgrade against Serbia. Germany then hosts the Netherlands in Berlin on November 16. With five points gathered from four matches, the team sits third in Group A2 behind Oranje and Greece, who each hold eight points, leaving the squad facing immediate pressure to finish in the top two to reach the quarterfinals.
Eintracht Frankfurt president Mathias Beck detailed the departure of sports director Markus Krösche. “When an employee comes and says that they no longer feel the necessary punching power, you have to think about a solution,” Beck told Sport Bild. Following the exit, coach Adi Hütter has effectively filled the void. Hütter, who has been in Frankfurt for four months, now operates as a lead figure in the club’s hierarchy without a sports director above him. He has recently exerted more influence over signings, such as the acquisition of Lilian Brassier, compared to the eras of Albert Riera or Dino Toppmöller.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport reported that the SGE supervisory board has narrowed its successor search to two primary candidates: Joti Chatzialexiou from 1. FC Nürnberg and RB Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schäfer, while ruling out Bern’s Christoph Spycher. Chatzialexiou, who has experience in association work and talent development, has already held talks with the supervisory board and new CEO Axel Hellmann. The future sport chief will be responsible for squad planning, sporting development, and transfer strategy. The supervisory board is expected to make a final decision soon.
In domestic action, Eintracht Frankfurt secured a 3:1 DFB-Pokal victory over Hamburger SV at the Volksparkstadion. Referee Tobias Stieler subsequently admitted to Sky that a first-half challenge by Frankfurt captain Robin Koch on Hamburg’s Zakaria El Ouahdi should have resulted in a penalty kick, though the video assistant referee maintained the on-field decision. In the DFB-Pokal, Niclas Füllkrug scored twice for Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund. In the NBA, Moritz Wagner contributed 15 points, three assists, and four rebounds for the Brooklyn Nets in a narrow 125:124 overtime defeat to the Boston Celtics decided by a Jayson Tatum buzzer-beater.
