Nico Paz at the double as minnows Como stun Manchester United

Italian minnows Como produced a sensational result as they thrashed Manchester United 4-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The competition newcomers were far too strong for the three-time European champions at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, condemning them to a humiliating defeat that piled the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.

A second-minute goal from Nico Paz set Cesc Fabregas’ side on their way and he grabbed another after Tasos Douvikas doubled the lead. Jacobo Ramon added to United’s misery before Joshua Zirkee scored a late consolation.

Real Madrid maintained their 100 per cent start with a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Bernabeu.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Arda Guler either side of half-time put them in control before Kylian Mbappe extended their lead.

Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for the German side but former Leipzig star Yan Diomande reminded his old club of his quality with a superb late volley.

Aston Villa beat Viking Stavanger 3-1 to continue their winning start. Ross Barkley and Emiliano Buendia struck before a Henrik Heggheim own goal.

Real Betis also made it three wins from three as they beat Feyenoord 1-0 with an Isco penalty.

Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal at the Allianz Arena after Declan Rice scored a late equaliser for the Premier League champions.

The Germans had fought back to lead through an Alphonso Davies effort and a Harry Kane penalty after Eberechi Eze’s opener.

Italian champions Inter Milan secured their first victory in the competition as they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 at San Siro despite being reduced to 10 men.

Alessandro Bastoni was sent off for two bookings in quick succession after the hour but Carlos Augusto’s 77th-minute strike settled the contest.

Galatasaray claimed their first win as they came from behind to win 4-2 at Lille while Bruges overpowered Lens 3-0. Sporting Lisbon suffered their first loss as Austrian side LASK won 3-2 in Portugal.
