South Aiken’s Kendall Doolittle earned a spot on the All-State volleyball team after helping to lead the T-Breds to a state semifinal appearance.

As the high school volleyball season comes to a close for local teams, All-State selections have been made to honor several local standouts across three classifications.

The selections are made by the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports and includes a total of 94 players across the five different classifications for high school sports.

Several teams in the Region 5-AAAA found success this season, with three making the playoffs and South Aiken advancing to the state semifinals with upsets over Aiken and North Myrtle Beach. South Aiken junior Kendall Doolittle earned a spot on the team after her team finished with a 24-10 record. She led the team with 46 aces and 346 digs according to MaxPrep while helping to lead them on their playoff run in November.

Aiken had the youngest local player to get a spot on the All-State roster in sophomore Porter Wilhite. The Hornets had a dominant season with a young roster, winning the region with an undefeated record and only losing nine games overall out of 31 games played.

Wilhite led the team in kills this season with an average of 2.2 kills a set and led in aces with 68 and assists with 253.

North Augusta senior libero also earned a spot for her performance this season. The Jackets finished with a 12-10 overall record and finished third in a competitive region. They fell in the opening round of the playoffs against Lugoff-Elgin. Ussery played a significant role for North Augusta for all four years of her high school career and was the backbone of this season’s younger group as a team captain.

Strom Thurmond senior Ary Lyons made the roster for the Class AA All-State team following the Rebels Region 4-AA championship this season. They finished with a 13-6 record and a 10-2 record in region play. Lyons led the team in kills with an average of 2.2 kills a set.

Two players made the All-State Class A roster from two different volleyball programs. Barnwell senior Rilee Sandifer helped lead her team to a Region 4-A championship with an undefeated 12-0 record. She led in several areas with 2.6 kills per set on average, a 41.7 hitting percentage, 75 aces and 138 assists. The Warhorses advanced to the second round of the Class A playoffs before falling to Buford.

Wagener-Salley senior also made the roster after the team finished in second place in Region 4-A. She led the War Eagles with 1.5 kills a set on average and 34 total blocks this season. They finished up their season in the first round of the Class A playoffs, falling to Great Falls.
