Liverpool youngster Will Wright has earned his first call-up for his country after being named in the England U19s squad for three upcoming games this month.
Wright has been rewarded for his superb form for the Reds’ youth teams this season, having scored 13 goals across 12 games for the U21s and U19s, including a hat-trick against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old’s treble in Turkiye was the second time he has scored a hat-trick in Europe this season, having also done so against Austrian side LASK last month, making it back-to-back away Youth League games in which he has achieved the feat.
Wright has now been named in the England U19 squad for games against Slovenia (November 11), Belarus (November 14) and Austria (November 17) this month.
Having joined Liverpool from Salford City last year, with the Reds beating Arsenal to his signature, Wright has emerged as one of the most exciting talents at the club’s academy.
In his 14 Premier League 2 games during his first season for Liverpool U21s, he made nine goal contributions (four goals and five assists) - he's already only two away from that mark after just six games this season.
The teenager earned call-ups from former Liverpool boss Arne Slot for four of the senior side's Premier League games last season, having been named on the bench against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa towards the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
“People tend to call me a retro No.9 who likes to bustle himself about. Those are my strengths,” Wright told Liverpoolfc.com this week.
“From experience I know the contact, I know the right positions to be in. I just need to keep being clinical.
“I’m super-happy with the way the season is going and hopefully I can carry on this way.”

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Reflecting on the U19s’ win over Fenerbahce, Wright added: “It was a strong performance from the lads. We’ve still got to keep working.
“We’ve got room to improve, sometimes we were complacent – we could have avoided those goals we conceded and we made the game harder for ourselves. But super-happy with it. We’ve just got to keep pushing.”
More of the Reds’ youngsters will be in action during this month’s international break. Rio Ngumoha has of course earned another spot in Thomas Tuchel’s senior England side, while two more academy stars will turn out for the Young Lions.
Erik Farkas has been called up to England’s U18s for friendlies against the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, while Josh Abe has been named in the England U17s squad for games against Montenegro, Poland and Ukraine.
