Vadodara, October 22: India’s fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur will miss the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe. The selectors have brought in seam-bowling all-rounder Jintimani Kalita as her replacement, a move that highlights the team's focus on maintaining bowling depth.

Renuka, who was part of India’s ODI World Cup-winning squad last year, has been focusing on building her bowling fitness. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that she is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, working on increasing her bowling volume to meet the demands of the 50-over format. This structured recovery process ensures players are fully prepared for international competition.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development, noting that Jintimani Kalita, who recently participated in the T20I series in Raipur, has joined the team in Vadodara. Jintimani, also retained by Gujarat Giants for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), will strengthen India's pace attack alongside Kranti Gaud, Nandni Sharma, and Sayali Satghare.

The Indian squad, now led by Smriti Mandhana as the new all-format captain, boasts a strong spin department with vice-captain Deepti Sharma, Sree Charani, and Vaishnavi Sharma. This series against Zimbabwe at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara marks Mandhana's first ODI assignment as captain. All matches are scheduled to begin at 2 PM IST, promising an exciting challenge for the reigning ODI world champions.

India's updated ODI Squad: Smriti Mandhana (captain), Shafali Verma, Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma (vc), Richa Ghosh (wk), Yastika Bhatia (wk), Vaishnavi Sharma, Nandni Sharma, Sree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare, and Jintimani Kalita.
